I don’t want to weigh everyone down with depressing sadness, so I’m going to make a very broad generalization of my life to say I’ve been very stressed out lately.
But! That is hopefully about to change!
In addition to some big changes that are happening soon (I’ll post more about those in the future), I’m also about to be at the beach through Saturday!
I unfortunately couldn’t be off work today, so I couldn’t head down to Florida as early as the rest of my family (my parents went down Saturday and my sister & brother-in-law & nephew went down today). BUT! As soon as I can get my grass cut in the morning, I will be on my way down!
Since 2009, my family has been making an annual trip down to Port St. Joe for a deep-sea fishing trip.
When we first started going, we were doing the trip with some friends of my parents. We would all meet up and drive down together on Friday, fish on Saturday, and drive back on Sunday. And let me tell you, THAT can be very tiring.
Then, we started making the trip ourselves and spending more time down there.
Last year, my aunt, uncle, and cousins were able to go with us (not on the fishing part, but for the week at the beach part), and it was the first time we’d ever actually stayed ON Cape San Blas. We had a beachfront house and absolutely loved it! No joke — I slept on a daybed on a porch overlooking the water. 😛
And although we really enjoyed staying beachfront on Cape San Blas, with the purchase of paddleboards and kayaks, we spent more time playing in the bay instead of the ocean.
So, this year, we’ve rented a house that is bay-front. This makes it easier for us to use our paddleboards and kayaks without having to load them up to drive down to the park and then unload them again. We’re still planning to go to the park area when we want to go to the beach, but loading the truck for the beach is easier than loading two paddleboards and two kayaks.
And then Friday, we will be fishing!!!!!! The bad part about this is having to be AT the docks to catch the boat at 6AM. Which means getting up at like 5ish. And I am NOT a morning person!
Thankfully, this trip is a much needed break for me. I will probably be very slow at responding to blog comments and e-mails and messages on social media, and I don’t apologize for that one bit. Not because I don’t love blogging, I do. I just need some down time to relax and try to get myself more centered and balanced.
And then in a couple of weeks, I’ll try to share a post with some photos from my trip!
Do you have a fun vacation trip planned for your summer? Do you have an annual trip that you always take with family/friends? I’d love to hear what your summer plans/traditions are, so leave me a comment below!
