My dear readers — I apologize. Not only did I not get a new post published for you on Monday, but I neglected to let any of you know! I have failed you, and for that, I apologize. To make up for it, I’ll share something with you this Friday instead!
And for today, I’ll give you a little insight into why I’ve been so busy and not as together on my blogging….
I’m not going to give details of why, but in mid-June, it became very apparent to me that I needed to leave my job. The sooner, the better. In my head, I even told myself “I will no be here by August.”
The same night that I made that realization, I started putting in job applications.
And I got really lucky. I got a call back on one of those first applications I put in.
After receiving a job offer (and accepting it), I put in my resignation notice with my job. I was extremely generous in that I was giving a FOUR WEEK notice, but to be fair, I would be out on vacation one of those weeks.
My replacement was found while I was on vacation, and she started the Monday I returned. Which was great for me. Especially since they said I only needed to continue coming in until she felt she could do the job without my help, but they would still pay me through the date I had originally said would be my last day.
So. Wednesday last week was my last day working (until I start my new job next week). And as much as I’ve enjoyed taking a vacation and having time off from working, it’s also made a serious impact on my blogging, because I’d done much of my blogging stuff from my work computer (and this was necessary because I have no internet at my house!).
But. At the end of last week. I went and accomplished something from my 101 in 1001 list — I got a library card.
This means that when I start work next week, I have somewhere to stop and work on blogging before I go home.
But you guys, this whole job change thing — it’s a GOOD thing!
Instead of a commute that is 46.5 miles (one way, and only if I took the shortest route which was not always the fastest), I will now have a commute that is only 11.5 miles (each way). I will be gaining HOURS of time to my life every day simply based on how much I won’t be commuting.
And then, on top of that, I save gas money. And I get a raise. And I have a retirement plan to participate in. And I have better benefit options.
I’m also going to have more time for blogging and trying to grow my Damsel in Defense business and volunteering and spending time with family.
There are so many good things that are coming out of this change, and I am super excited about it. So, hopefully, this job will go well for me!
And now, as an even bigger apology for being a bad blogger (not commenting on others posts, not staying on my blogging schedule, not responding to e-mails), I’ve got a little something for you…..
Melissa from The Rambling Llama and I are giving away TWO of the Day Designer/Blue Sky collaboration planners that were at Target (but are pretty much sold out EVERYWHERE now). Please enter and share below! GOOD LUCK!
